Hi, I’m Val.
Aspiring Software Engineer with
an eye for design.
I’m interested in web development, mobile applications, and data systems. I build projects that connect user interfaces, application logic, and databases.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME
Curiosity connects the things I do.
I’m based in the Salt Lake City area. I’m interested in technology, visual art, and culture, and I often find myself exploring how they connect. Working on different projects has helped me discover what I enjoy and what I want to learn next.
WHAT I BRING
Web Development
I like building things and figuring out why they don’t work yet. My projects have given me experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, WordPress, and Webflow, along with plenty of practice troubleshooting. I enjoy having a hand in both the design and development because I can try an idea, see how it behaves, and keep adjusting it.
Interface & experience
I’m interested in how small design choices shape the way people experience a website or app. Layout, typography, color, and spacing all influence how something feels and how easily someone can find their way. My interest in visual art makes me attentive to those details, while building interfaces helps me balance personal expression with clarity and usability.
Mobile Development
Working with Kotlin and Android has given me another way to turn ideas into experiences people can use. With hands on experience, I explored how an app could create a quiet moment for reflection through simple interactions and thoughtful design. I’m still developing my mobile skills, but I enjoy connecting what happens on the screen with the logic and local storage that make it work.
Data & systems
I structure and manage application data using MySQL and Room. In Mestizaje, I used relational data to connect artwork, countries, users, and favorites. In Resonance, I stored reflections locally and retrieved them for the history view. These projects involved defining data models, writing queries, and handling saved information.
